I didn't buy this boot for traditional hiking, but rather for doing lawn mowing and yard work on uneven, sloping ground. I was looking for higher ankle support than in a typical shoe. The fit was as expected even with my arch supports. The ankle support and traction are very good. So far, they have been very comfortable to wear.
My only concern is that the metal lace eyelets do not have rounded edges. It appears that those edges may eventually cut into the laces, but that's just my observation. I haven't worn them enough times to know if that will eventually happen or not.

I needed a new pair of waterproof hikers to replace a pair that had worn out after 10 years of hard use and needed a pair that were extra wide and because I have, 1) wide feet, and 2) a bunion on one foot. I bought these shoes in 4E expecting to have to return them but they are most definitely true to size. Out of the box they are very comfortable and while the insoles that come with the shoe are better than expected I still replaced it with premium insoles (Spenco Total Support Max Insoles). And even though the replaced insoles were somewhat thicker than the original ones, my foot doesn't feel crowded or cramped. This really is a very comfortable shoe. I have read other reviews about the shoe being sized too narrow but that isn't what I found.
You might wonder why I gave them a 4 star rating rather than 5. That is because I have had them less than a month and don't know how they will hold up. Since they are replacing a pair of hiking boots that lasted 10 years (Lowa waterproof which doesn't come in wide widths) I hesitate to give them 5 stars but I will update after some time has passed.

The boots provide cushion for standing on concrete all day. The fit was somewhat large. I would not size up in this boot.
